== ND library of Umeå ==
This is the ND library maintained by [[User:Gandalf|Göran Axelsson]]. It consists of the combined collections of Göran and the storage on Teg.

The large storage in Teg is emptied and the most of the manuals ended up in a new storage together with the library of Göran. The collection contained a lot of ND literature, software and hardware, this is the list of the manuals and software. The list is going to expand further, there are a couple of boxes we haven't gone through yet. So far we have listed 560 manuals plus extra material.

It also contains a number of manuals that came with the ND-500 machine donated by [[User:Burbas|Burbas]] to the Umeå collection. Among later additions are manuals from Ragge and a bunch of manuals that came with the [[NORD-50 Serial 37|NORD-50]].

[[ND-5800]] Serial number 475 "'''Batman'''" was given to me by [http://datamuseum.dk/ Dansk Datahistorisk Forening] in 2020. It was donated in 2002 by "Telenor i Farum". The computer was built in 1988-06-03.

This machine has been upgraded to the more modern CPU [[ND-5850 RALLAR]] that were introduced in 1990 and has two CPU:s. It has dual SCSI controllers on the 5000 side as well as dual Ethernet III cards. At the top shelf there is a tape streamer, the boot disk, a 5.25" floppy drive and the front panel.

Cabinet with one ND 514 and one ND 586 drive

This cabinet was given to me by Mattis Lind of the [ Dalby datormuseum]. It contains a [[ND 514]] (a CDC ... SMB disc drive) with serial number ... and a [[ND 586]] cartridge drive with serial number ...
I picked up (loosely speaking, it weigh around 200 kg) the drive in the spring of 2019. With it I also got a similar drive...

==Description==
The ND 514 SMB drive is mounted on top of a rack. Lower down is the ND 586 cartridge drive. The top drive is a bit dismantled but I got a box full of cards, a blower but no power supply.

==Current status==
The top disk is partly disassembled but I think it is possible to get it together again. Looks decent enough with respect of how old it is.
Page 225 in the 83308400 STORAGE MODULE DRIVE BJ7XX manual shows where the cards go.
Looks like I have a [http://bitsavers.org/pdf/dec/disc/rm03/ RM03] disk I can collect some spare parts from.

Bottom disk is in unknown state but at a glance it looks nice. The brackets holding the front have been bent out of shape during the transport but it's manageable. There is a disk pack loaded in the mechanism.

Gandalf: Added a progress report and pictures

In early 2020, the [http://datamuseum.dk/ Dansk Datahistorisk Forening] decided that they needed more space in their storage and that the two machines [[ND-5800 Serial 475|Batman]] and [[ND-5830 Serial 129|Robin]] together with the [[User:Gandalf/hw/filestore 3|filestore]] needed a new home. Together with the machines were a lot of spare part. I let them know that I was interested in some of the spare parts for my machines and it looked like the two ND-5800 machines would end up in an exhibition in Norway. 
This was just before the COVID-19 epidemic broke out and the plans of the move got postponed. In late summer the discussions were taken up again, but now I was the only one expressing any interest in the machines. To avoid the two machines would be scrapped I agreed to take care of the whole lot.

It took five pallets to transport the lot to Umeå and in late October it arrived here in perfect condition. To help me with the economical part, a collection drive was done on the facebook group and on the mailing list [mailto://datahistorie@mailman.efn.no datahistorie@mailman.efn.no]. I'm extremely grateful to the support I've been given by both known people and unknown.

All cabinets have been transported to my house with the help of my good friend Nisse. He is starting to get used to move machines like this. It took three trips with a cargo wan and two trips with my car to get all the equipment moved.

It is finally done so now starts the job of documenting, scanning, making images of media and restoring the machines. I got 14 SCSI disks and many floppies to copy.

The [[ND-5000 filestore]] comes without a serial number but this is the third one in my collection. It was given to me by [http://datamuseum.dk/ Dansk Datahistorisk Forening] in 2020 and it belongs to the two ND-5800 machines, [[ND-5800 Serial 475|Batman]] and [[ND-5830 Serial 129|Robin]]. I believe it was previous in the possession of the Danish Telephone Company.

The difference between this filestore and the previous one is that there are six cassettes with power supply and space for two standard 5.25" full height SCSI drives. The backside have cabling for creating chains of disks, but is easily cut between the cassettes. The configuration of this filestore was to provide disks for both Batman and Robin

Gandalf: Added some details, corrected some parts and updated the status.

In early 2020, the [http://datamuseum.dk/ Dansk Datahistorisk Forening] decided that they needed more space in their storage and that the two machines [[ND-5800 Serial 475|Batman]] and [[ND-5830 Serial 129|Robin]] together with the [[User:Gandalf/hw/filestore 3|filestore]] needed a new home. Together with the machines were a lot of spare part. I let them know that I was interested in some of the spare parts for my machines and it looked like the two ND-5800 machines would end up in an exhibition in Norway. 
This was just before the COVID-19 epidemic broke out and the plans of the move got postponed. In late summer the discussions were taken up again, but now I was the only one expressing any interest in the machines. To avoid the two machines would be scrapped I agreed to take care of the whole lot.

It took five pallets to transport the lot to Umeå and in late October it arrived here in perfect condition. To help me with the economical part, a collection drive was done on the facebook group and on the mailing list [mailto://datahistorie@mailman.efn.no datahistorie@mailman.efn.no]. I'm extremely grateful to the support I've been given by both known people and unknown.

So far I've transported all the spare cards to my house and two of the cabinets. Only the filestore remains to be transported.

[[ND-5830]] Serial number 129 was given to me by [http://datamuseum.dk/ Dansk Datahistorisk Forening] in 2020. I believe it was previous in the possession of the Danish Telephone Company. The computer was built in 1987-11-19.

This machine has been upgraded to the more modern CPU Rallar that were introduced in 1990 and has two CPU:s. It has three SCSI controllers on the 5000 side as well as dual Ethernet III cards. At the top shelf there is two tape streamer, the boot disk, a 5.25" floppy drive and the front panel.

In early 2020, the [http://datamuseum.dk/ Dansk Datahistorisk Forening] decided that they needed more space in their storage and that the two machines [[ND-5800 Serial 475|Batman]] and [[ND-5830 Serial xxx|Robin]] together with the [[User:Gandalf/hw/filestore 3|filestore]] needed a new home. Together with the machines were a lot of spare part. I let them know that I was interested in some of the spare parts for my machines and it looked like the two ND-5800 machines would end up in an exhibition in Norway. 
This was just before the COVID-19 epidemic broke out and the plans of the move got postponed. In late summer the discussions were taken up again, but now I was the only one expressing any interest in the machines. To avoid the two machines would be scrapped I agreed to take care of the whole lot.

It took five pallets to transport the lot to Umeå and in late October it arrived here in perfect condition. To help me with the economical part, a collection drive was done on the facebook group and on the mailing list [mailto://datahistorie@mailman.efn.no datahistorie@mailman.efn.no]. I'm extremely grateful to the support I've been given by both known people and unknown.

So far I've transported all the spare cards to my house and in a few days the three big racks will follow.

This machine has been upgraded to the more modern CPU Rallar that were introduced in 1990 and has two CPU:s. It has dual SCSI controllers on the 5000 side as well as dual Ethernet III cards. At the top shelf there is a tape streamer, the boot disk, a 5.25" floppy drive and the front panel.

==Missing parts and damages==

Nothing is missing except a few screws or damaged as far as I know.

==Current status==
The system resides in my main collection outside of Umeå. It's operational status is unknown.
* 2020-11-04 Arrived at my main collection, the move from Denmark went just fine without major problems. To move it the last leg of the journey all side panels and power supplies have been removed and is sitting at it's side.
