3038 is the 8 inch Disk Controller.

Switches and indicators

From top of the card

  • LED 1 - yellow - read
  • LED 2 - yellow - write
  • LED 3 - yellow - parity
  • LED 4 - yellow - compare
  • LED 5 - yellow - active
  • LED 6 - red - error
  • thumbwheel switch - device number
    • 0 - device address 500-507 (octal) - ident code 1 (octal) - the first 5.25 inch, 8 inch or 10 MB controller
    • 1 - device address 510-517 (octal) - ident code 5 (octal) - the second 5.25 inch, 8 inch or 10 MB controller
    • 2 - device address 520-527 (octal) - ident code 3 (octal) - reserved for magtape 1
    • 3 - device address 530-537 (octal) - ident code 7 (octal) - reserved for magtape 2
    • 4 - device address 540-547 (octal) - ident code 2 (octal) - reserved for drum 1
    • 5 - device address 550-557 (octal) - ident code 6 (octal) - reserved for drum 2
    • 6 - device address 600-607 (octal) - ident code 4 (octal) - reserved for versatec 1
    • 7 - device address 1600-1607 (octal) - ident code 14 (octal) - reserved for versatec 2
    • 8 - device address 1540-1547 (octal) - ident code 17 (octal) - reserved for SMD 1
    • 9 - device address 1550-1557 (octal) - ident code 20 (octal) - reserved for SMD 2

setting 10-15 is not reserved.

Connectors

The A and B connectors are used for I/O, the C connector is used for the ND-100 Bus.
