@CLEAR-DEVICE <logical device number>

Execute a clear device operation (IOX instruction). This command can be used to stop the line-printer if an attempt is made to print non-alphanumeric information, or it can be used to stop a search for a nonexistent EOF mark on a magnetic tape and prevent the tape from winding off.

<logical device number>

Rules:

  1. Permitted only for user SYSTEM.
  2. @CLEAR-DEVICE on a magnetic tape operates on the magnetic tape controller, if several magnetic tape stations are connected to the same controller, they are all cleared through one @CLEAR-DEVICE command.
