OpenLAN is Norsk Data's Local Area Network product family. It is designed to link ND's range of PC-based workstations, terminals, printers and host computers into one integrated network. It is based on the TCP/IP standard and uses standard protocols as FTP and TELNET among others. [1]

Features

  • Easy to use for end-users, no knowledge of the network topology is required for the end user.
  • Works for both Local Area Network and Wide Area Network implementations.
  • Works with other vendors supporting FTP and TELNET.

Versions

  • OpenLAN Server for Ethernet II (ND-100) contains
    • COSMOS TCP/IP Gateway (ND 211185)
    • COSMOS TELNET/FTP Clients (ND 211154)
    • OWS Access Server (ND 211297)
  • OpenLAN TCP/IP Access Module/II (ND-500) contains
    • COSMOS TCP/IP Gateway (ND 211185)
    • COSMOS TELNET/FTP Clients (ND 211154)
    • OWS Access Server for ND 500/5000 (ND 211325)
  • OpenLAN TCP/IP Access Module/III (ND-5000) contains
    • TCP/IP Basic Module/III (ND 211327)
    • COSMOS TELNET/FTP Clients (ND 211154)
    • OWS Access Server for ND 500/5000 (ND 211325)

Hardware Requirements

  • Ethernet II controller for ND-100 or ND-500 host computer.
