Acronyms used in the description of Norsk Data computers. This page lists some of the forgotten acronyms that makes it easier to read ND-documentation.

BRF

BRF, Binary Relocatable Format, compiled NORD-10/ND-100 program code in a form that can be loaded anywhere in memory. See NRL or BRF Linker.

HDLC

HDLC, High-Level Data Link Control. Asynchronous serial OSI level 2 protocol supported by several Norsk Data I/O cards.

NRF

NRF, ND Relocatable Format, compiled ND-500(0) program code in a form that can be loaded anywhere in memory. See ND Linker.

PIT

PIT, hardware Page Index Table. See Memory Management System.

SMD

SMD, Storage Module Driver, one of the types of disks used by ND computers.

TPS

Transaction Processing System, a transaction system handling transactions between I/O devices and programs. See TPS.

TRUE

TRransaction User Environment, a transaction monitor, network control and recovery system for databases. See TRUE.
