My guess is that The CPU has been replaced with a ND-110CX 32B CPU some time along the line.
The power supply has a date of 22/5-81 but the cards in the CPU crate is mostly of a later date, I've seen dates on IC:s from 1985 and 1986. Most obvious is that the CPU has been replaced with a ND-110CX 32B CPU some time along the line. The time counter at the power supply indicates 42738 hours running time or five years continuously.

Given the clues above it seems like this is an older machine that has been refurbished or upgraded with a new set of cards and taken into service again.

ND-100 CX serial 657 is an early machine. The serial number plate still uses the NORD-100 name even though it says ND-100 CX on the cabinet. It belonged to the Hordaland Fylkeskommune in Bergen, Norway and it has probably been sitting in the same storage room for most of it's life. It was named "NETT".

A long wait in the corner of the storage.

Status

Complete and in running condition. There is no disks in the system but there is a SMD interface. Boots from floppy and runs INSTRUCTION-B without problem.

Configuration

The card crate is filled from position 3 to 21. Sadly the external drive rack isn't available any longer.

  • Hard disk : Unknown, has SMD controller and there were a huge disc cartridge with the system.
  • Floppy : 8" floppy
  • Tape : There is a STC tape interface card but no drive.
  • AUI to TP converter connected to the Ethernet II card
  • Power supply
  • Front panel and operators console

CPU crate

  • Slot 1 : Unoccupied
  • Slot 3 : 3095 CPU, ND-110CX 32B
  • Slot 4 : 3020 NO100 STC MT CTR.
  • Slot 5 : 3015 HDLC W/A.LO.
  • Slot 6 : 3015 HDLC W/A.LO.
  • Slot 7 : 3015 HDLC W/A.LO.
  • Slot 8 : 3015 HDLC W/A.LO.
  • Slot 9 : 3015 HDLC W/A.LO.
  • Slot 10 : 3015 HDLC W/A.LO.
  • Slot 11 : 3023 NO100 MEGALINK IF
  • Slot 12 : 3015 HDLC W/A.LO.
  • Slot 13 : 3043 15 MHZ SMD CONTROL
  • Slot 14 : 3044 15 MHZ SMD DATA
  • Slot 15 : 3112 8" + 5 1/4" FL+STR
  • Slot 16 : 3111 8 TERM IF W FIFO
  • Slot 17 : 3111 8 TERM IF W FIFO
  • Slot 18 : 3040 3042 NO100 2MBY RAM
  • Slot 19 : 3111 8 TERM IF W FIFO
  • Slot 20 : 3108 PIOC/256
  • Slot 21 : 3094 ETHERNET IF. II
Die cast serial number plate.

History

  • Unknown delivery date to the Hordaland Fylkeskommune in Bergen.
  • Taken off active duty.
  • Donated to me after a post on the datahistorie mailing list
  • Arrived in Umeå via lorry at 2016-09-26.
  • First power on at 2016-09-27, works great

Future plans

  • Test the hardware
  • Use it for imaging 8" floppies

Extras

The system came with two boxes of 8" floppys and a large disc pack.

Location

The system belongs to Göran Axelsson and is located in Umeå, Sweden.
